Q: What do you do?
A: Eyaa-Keen Healing Centre Inc. offers Indigenous Mental Health Services to victims of trauma. Our unique services take a Traditional indigenous approach to trauma treatment and psychological rehabilitation. Our Traditional-based services are founded on the premise that to be well and thriving, one must lead their own life from a place of knowingness, grounded and supported in our Natural Spiritual Principles and Ways.
Q: How do your programs work?
A: Eyaa-Keen has over 25 years of experience helping victims of trauma heal and find peace through Traditional therapy. Our programs parallel the western clinical system to address and overcome chronic mental health issues including anxiety and fear, depression and hopelessness, and grief and loss. Additionally, we expand our programs beyond the boundaries of western therapy and counselling and follow a series of Indigenous Traditional based sessions to deliver integrated physical, emotional, mental and spiritual treatment, healing and development.
Q: Where do your programs take place?
A: Eyaa-Keen has spacious and comfortable meeting space in their downtown Winnipeg offices, where individual and group sessions take place. They also offer multi-day ‘residential’ programs outside of Winnipeg, in rural locations conducive to comfort and healing, where participants reside on-site during the program delivery.
Q: What is the cost for a session?
A: Costs per session depends on many factors – how long the session is, whether it is an individual or group session and whether it takes place in or outside of Winnipeg. In addition, subsidy may be available for qualifying participants, which can substantially reduce costs. The best thing to do is call Eyaa-Keen to learn about the programs, discuss your situation and find out what the costs will be for you to attend.
Q: Can my kids come?
A: Eyaa-Keen’s programs are intended only for Indigenous adults over the age of 24, so children are not allowed to directly participate. However, your children will benefit greatly by your participation, as you will become a healthier and happier parent, instilling strength into your children and teaching them by example.
Q: Can my husband/wife/partner come?
A: If your partner meets the criteria for intake, then yes, they may attend as a participant. If they do not wish to participate, your relationship will benefit greatly by your participation.
If you require further clarification on the above questions, or have specific questions that are not listed here, please phone Eyaa-Keen Centre. All inquiries are dealt with in a confidential manner.
