HONORING WHITE BUFFALO
On Thursday, August 23, 2013, Eyaa-Keen’s Co-Founders and Co-Directors Mel and Shirley Chartrand, the Board, Elders and the staff of the centre conducted the Grand Opening of the Eyaa-Keen Healing Centre Ceremonial Grounds with special guests, teachings and a wonderful feast prepared by volunteers and staff.
It was a beautiful day as guests sat together and listened to our Elders share their knowledge. Special guest Chief Arvol Looking Horse led the pipe ceremony to officially open the ceremony grounds an bless the White Buffalo area.
At the Grand Opening, Chief Looking Horse and Mel and Shirley Chartrand made a proclamation declaring August 23 Honouring the White Buffalo Day.
Guest speakers included Chief Arvol Looking Horse; Chief Tacan; Tina Keeper; and a number of representatives from Eyaa-Keen Healing Centre, including Board Member Lorne C. Keeper, Fmr-Executive Director Wayne Mason and Co-Directors Mel and Shirley Chartrand.
